Privacy Policy

This is Michael Wahl's personal professional site. This page explains what data the site collects, why, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not to hide anything in fine print.

Consent comes first

The site loads no optional analytics or tracking until you agree. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you consent. If you decline — or simply ignore it — no tracking scripts load, and the site works exactly the same. This is your legal basis under the GDPR: consent, freely given, and withdrawable at any time.

Visitor analytics (only after you accept)

If you accept, the site loads RB2B, a business-visitor identification service. RB2B uses your IP address and third-party business data to estimate which company — and, for some visitors, which person — is viewing the site, so that I can understand who is interested and follow up professionally. It is used for business-to-business context, not for advertising networks. RB2B's own handling of data is governed by its privacy policy.

What's stored on your device

To remember your consent choice, the site stores a single value in your browser's local storage (cookie-consent-v1). This is a strictly necessary preference — it is what lets the site avoid re-asking and avoid loading anything you declined. It is not used to track you.

The chat assistant

The optional on-page assistant sends the messages you type to a large language model (Claude, via Amazon Bedrock) to generate a reply. Don't enter anything sensitive. The assistant answers only from this site's published professional content and declines personal, compensation, or confidential-client questions.

Scheduling

The site embeds Calendly so you can book a meeting directly — an inline scheduler in the contact section, and a scheduling badge on the project and other secondary pages. Calendly may set its own cookies and processes the details you enter to schedule the meeting, governed by Calendly's privacy policy. You can always reach me by email instead.

Your choices & rights

You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser (which removes the stored choice and brings back the consent banner on your next visit), or by emailing me to request access to, or deletion of, any data associated with your visit. Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or erase your data, and to withdraw consent without affecting anything you did before.
